Gillian prides herself in her ability to allow her passion for equity to fuel her work. She is especially driven by her vision for a future where the institutional consequences of colonialism have been dismantled, so that communities of color across the globe can thrive. Her personal and professional passions include early childhood education, economic development, and human rights.
At Working Within, Gillian serves as an Associate Consultant, developing and cultivating relationships with Black social enterprise leaders in her communities.
Currently, Gillian lives in New York City, but prior to her move there in 2022, she spent time working in community development and as an elementary school teacher in Houston, TX, where she also earned her bachelors degree in economics and sociology at Rice University.
Through her work, the racial inequities she had witnessed and experienced her entire life were transformed into policy issues she wanted to address professionally. She attended the Harvard Kennedy School of Government, where she received her Masters in Public Policy in 2022, in order to gain the tangible skills she deemed necessary to make sustainable impact.
Outside of Working Within, Gillian works as a Senior Research Associate at EdSolutions, conducting research that informs recommendations to philanthropic organizations and their grantees invested in making impact in the K-12 education market. In her free time, she enjoys reading, writing, and spending time with her dog, Duckie.
