His Story
Peter Lubembela was born in the Nyarugusu Refugee Camp in Tanzania and emigrated to Colorado at the age of seven. He graduated from Noel Community Arts at Montbello and is part of Howard University’s 2021 class of graduates. Peter is the Founder of 10For10. Peter started 10for10 to unite Black men but has diversified the mission to be inclusive of women and all minorities. Through 10for10, Peter has led protests, rallies, marches, and service events that fed over 7,000 thousand people. While at Howard University, Peter was 1st Vice President of the Andrew Rankin Memorial Chapel, founded the Colorado Club to support students from Colorado, and served as the President of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc., Alpha Chapter. Peter is passionate about uplifting and empowering minority voices and is an advocate for all of Colorado. He interned in Senator Michael Bennet’s Capitol Hill office as a junior, is a Mayor’s Ambassador for the City of Denver, and is a recent awardee of the My Brothers Keeper 25 'Emerging Leaders' Award.
After graduating, Peter served as a Staff Assistant in Senator John Hickenlooper’s Washington D.C office. While in the office, Peter served as the Social and Community Service Chair for the Senate Black Legislative Staff Caucus. After a year in Hickenlooper's office, Peter Lubembela moved back to Denver to work on Senator Michael Bennet’s reelection campaign as a Political Coordinator focused on Black outreach and engagement. Peter is a 2022 graduate from Denver Metro Chamber Leadership Foundation’s Impact Denver.
