Working Within partnered with Athletics & Beyond to strengthen their fundraising foundation during a difficult financial period. We began with a direct review of their financials to clarify operational practices and define what a profitable structure should look like. Through coaching, we helped the team learn how to speak to funders about their true program costs, impact, and funding needs. We then refined their organizational narrative and updated their grant materials so funders could better understand their value and identified aligned funding opportunities and prepared stronger submissions that reflected their strengths and long-standing presence in Montbello.

Athletics & Beyond is Denver’s only student-athlete development hub that pairs athletic engagement with academic achievement and career readiness. Athletics & Beyond pairs tutoring, workforce development, and financial literacy with exposure to diverse careers, helping young people see that success extends beyond the field. As a community hub in Montbello, it provides fitness, health programs, and mentorship so students and families gain the skills and confidence to thrive.

Working Within partnered with Athletics and Beyond during a period when funding had slowed despite their long history of impact in Montbello. We began by reviewing their financials to clarify true revenue needs and strengthen the foundation for more sustainable operations. Through coaching, we helped the team learn how to speak with funders about actual program costs, the depth of their impact, and the resources required to support students and athletes.

We then refined their organizational narrative and updated their grant materials so funders could clearly understand their value. We also identified aligned funding opportunities and supported stronger submissions that better reflected their experience, credibility, and community presence.

This work helped Athletics and Beyond increase funder confidence, reconnect with individual donors, and deepen their understanding of what drives funding decisions. With clearer financial positioning and a more compelling story, the organization is now better equipped to secure the support needed to continue serving youth in Montbello.
